Team Excel Synchronized Skating Teams proudly represent The Skating Club of Boston. The Skating Club of Boston, one of the nation's most unique and vibrant figure skating destinations, was founded in 1912 and is the 3rd oldest club in the United States. Team Excel is in its second year representing The Skating Club of Boston. Team Excel Synchronized Skating Teams' Head Coach and Director of Synchronized skating is Merita Mullen, who is a recognized worldwide leader in the sport of synchronized skating. Merita brings extensive experience providing coaching leadership and training to medal-winning national and international competitors, as well as two world competitors. Our coaching staff also includes Krista Benson, Kristen Curran, Melissa Delano, Jane Gruber, Dina Volpicelli, Megan Walsh, and Jason Wong. Team Excel promotes synchronized skating and prepares synchronized skating teams for national and international competition, encourages teamwork and sportsmanship, and supports skaters as they reach their full potential. We are proud of our skaters and their accomplishments. It is inspirational to watch our skaters continue to develop their skills, and continue a passion for the sport while forming new friendships along the way. Team Excel offers a unique opportunity to develop synchronized skating skills and continue with coaches and friendships from beginner through collegiate. A few of our skaters who graduated High School last year, and who have trained with Merita for many years, are skating on the Team Excel Collegiate team while they attend the many wonderful colleges in the area. Our skaters are from area towns and cities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, and California. Skating practices are mostly held at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts and with a few practices held at The Skating Club of Boston.
